What is the process?

Attend the 7 day IDC
Complete the 7 day training course

Pass a 2 day Instructor Examination
Receive a certificate of completion at the end of the IDC and attend an Examination.

Become an Instructor!
After passing at the Instructor Examination… you will then become a certified Scuba Instructor!

Prerequisites & age

To complete this course you must be 18 years old or above. You must be a qualified Divemaster or equivalent.

Frequently Asked questions

I have only qualified as a diver, can I work towards Instructor?

There are a number of prerequisites to be able to take the Instructor Course. This includes getting to Divemaster level and having 60 logged dives. We offer packages to work with you to do this. Please contact us.

Do I need my own equipment?

You will need all of your own standard dive equipment, including tanks and weights. You will also need to make sure that you have a pocket mask, SMB, Reel, Knife and Timing device. We offer various packages for these items on our online shop and in store.

Where will the course & the Instructor Exam take place?

The IDC will take place between our 3 dive centres, predominantly Hafan Marina & Vivian. We will issue a course schedule with the locations before the course week takes place so that you can arrange accommodation. The IE’s take place at various locations around the UK.

What will I be able to teach as an instructor?

As an Instructor, once you have passed the examination, you will be able to teach Discover Scuba Dives, through to PADI Divemaster level, as well as kids programmes. We offer speciality instructor packages for those looking to also teach courses such as drysuit.
